With the intent of specializing in publication and content management, I chose this as my NID "Diploma Project". I worked with one of the leading architecture and planning firms of Maharashtra, Associated Space Designers Pvt. Ltd., Pune, headed by architects Prakash Deshmukh and Zuber Rashid.
This project was completed within five months, and for the most part of it I worked on my own. The book was chiefly written by Architect and Urban Designer Dwaipayan Chakravarty, and edited by me, with important inputs from Mr. Deshmukh from time to time. During the course of the project, I sorted through 6500 photographs, followed by a tedious process of shortlisting and naming the usable images. Apart from that, wherever necessary, maps, graphs and organizational flowcharts etc were also drawn.
As an architectural landmark, Magarpatta City is an iconic and important integrated township, located in the Hadapsar region of Pune. It is a sustainable township built by a group of enterprising farmers who could not bear to see their agricultural lands being parceled into bite-sized fragments in the name of urbanization. Spoken from the point of view of the architects of that dream, it is hoped that this book will prove to be a valuable addition for students, bureaucrats and developers alike.
